ORU Fogar is getting ready for the V World Forum in Cordoba

Next April 27th and 28th ORU Fogar will hold its Executive Board meeting in which the organization will prepare its participation in the V World Forum on Local Economic Development, hosted by Cordoba (Argentina). Thus, on the first day, in a meeting in which all the internal issues will be addressed, there will be the presence of Roberto Di Meglio from the International Labour Organization who, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, will present the three thematic lines of the Forum.

The following day, Wednesday, April 28, a session jointly organized by ORU Fogar and the Province of Cordoba will further prepare the Forum in the area of political debate. This session is entitled "Future opportunities for territories" and is subtitled "Digitalization and energy transition, two axes of territorial economic development". In addition to the intervention of Fabián López, Minister of Public Services of the Province of Cordoba, Tim Luan, Director of Innoway, an innovation agency in Beijing, and Santiago Vilanova, journalist and author of "Green entrepreneurs for a blue planet", have been invited to speak on this topic.

The V World Forum, which this year is named "Innovation in the territories for a better quality of life", will take place virtually from May 26 to June 1. It will be structured in three thematic areas. The first area, coordinated by ORU Fogar and FAMSI-CGLU, is entitled "The territory as a basis for innovation and economic, social and environmental reactivation". The second area is entitled "Territorial economic models to address inequality in the face of the current pandemic crisis" and is coordinated by UNDP Art. The third "The future of work and the work of the future from the territorial perspective in the context of crisis generated by COVID-19" is organized and coordinated by the International Labor Organization.

The Forum will be organized with 5 plenary sessions, 3 keynote speeches and 26 other spaces including round tables, debates and workshops. In addition to local and regional governments and United Nations agencies, economic sectors, academics and experts on development issues and deployment of the Sustainable Development Goals will participate in the Forum.

The Forum will also include several side-events, among which it is worth highlighting the one organized by ORU Fogar's Cooperation Working Group, in collaboration with Platforma, entitled "European Union-Latin America Strategic Planning", a dissemination and comparative policy exercise that will feature the best experts in territorial and strategic planning.
