FAO, PNUD and IOPD, new members of ORU as observers

The executive bureau approved in Abidjan to issue a formal invitation to FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN), PNUD (UN Development Program), and IOPD (The International Observatory on Participatory Democracy) to become members of the organization as observers. They will officially join ORU after confirming the acceptance of the bureau’s invitation.

ORU works together with FAO in the core-group on Food Security, leaded by Jean-Paul Bachy, president of the French region Champagne-Ardenne. PNUD and ORU also share projects, like the III World Forum of Local Economic Development organized by the PNUD in October 2005. In this event, ORU will defend the political autonomy of regions as an engine for development.
