ORU-Fogar Assembly and Seminar on Digitization Sponsored by AIRF and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region

On November 30, the ORU-Fogar Annual General Assembly will take place virtually. It was to be held in Lyon but will continue to be sponsored by the Regional Council of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the International Association of French-speaking Regions (AIRF). At this meeting, the action plans for 2021 will be approved and all the organization's working groups will present their reports.

The General Assembly of ORU-Fogar 2020, will take place behind closed doors for ORU-Fogar members, and will be completed by the seminar on "Digitalization at the Service of the Regions", subtitled "Promoting Digital Transformation to Boost the Growth of Territories". This will take place the day after the assembly, on December 1st. The great commitment in the digital field of the hosts, Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes makes it a relevant topic. The region aims to become the first digital region in France and to assert itself as the accelerator of digital technology in Europe, a true European "Silicon Valley". In fact, in January 2021, the region will open the doors of its Digital Campus which, with an area of 3 hectares, will welcome some 2,000 students, teachers, business partners and groups from the region, as well as industrialists and researchers.

The program of the seminar will aim to understand, through the testimony of several regions, the policies being implemented in the digital field and to initiate a debate among the members of the General Assembly on the options and role of regional authorities in supporting the development of digital technology in their territories. The event will be opened by Juliette Jarry, Vice President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, Delegate for Infrastructure, Economy and Digital Uses, and will be closed by the President of ORU-Fogar, Abdessamad Sekkal. During its course it will be possible to learn about the Digital Campus project of the region and the strategic roadmap of the digital agenda of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (2021-2027), at the same time as the strategies of other regions committed to digital development, such as Catalonia or the Basque Country.

Both the assembly and the seminar can be followed in the three official languages of ORU-Fogar: Spanish, French and English.
