After several years of close collaboration, the ORU Fogar Gender Equality Working Group, led by the Province of Córdoba and the journalist Martha Campo have agreed to launch a cycle of periodic webinars aimed at showcasing regional best practices. This initiative was created with the firm objective of giving visibility to gender equality policies and strategies to combat violence against women, which many regional governments around the world are currently promoting.
The agreement establishes that, once a month, specifically, on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. CET, Martha Campo will present a flagship project, programme, or initiative developed by a regional government in this field. The journalist leads several media outlets and cultural platforms known for their strong commitment to human rights and socially engaged journalism, acting as a bridge to amplify voices and initiatives that generate tangible impact within communities.
The first session of this webinar series will take place on March 4, in connection with the commemoration of International Women’s Day. This inaugural event will feature the initiative of the Secretariat for Women of the Province of Córdoba, which received one of the 2024 ORU Fogar and UNDP Regional Best Practices Awards: The Comprehensive Centre for Men in Situations of Violence (CIV).
This Centre based in Córdoba stands out for its innovative and preventive approach, working directly with men who perpetrate or are at risk of gender-based violence in order to break the cycle of abuse through psychological support, monitoring, and re-education programmes. By addressing the issue at its root, the initiative contributes to ensuring the safety and protection of victims.
