Call for Nominations: II Regional Good Practices Award

ORU Fogar and UNDP launch the second edition of the competition awarding the best practices implemented by regional governments

After the success of the first edition of the Regional Best Practices Award, organised by ORU Fogar and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2016, the organisers have launched the II Regional Good Practices Award, the competition awarding the best practices implemented by regional governments that have had positive effects in their public management.

The initiative is aimed at promoting, encouraging and disseminating the activities and processes of public administration whose application can help to improve services for citizens, with the objective of making them an example with replication potential in other institutions.

The award is intended for intermediate governments - regional, provincial governments and federated states -. Applicants may submit their good practices in any of the organisation’s official languages: English, French and Spanish, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the competition, which are available on the Award’s tab at ORU Fogar’s website. A jury composed of renowned members, among which are outstanding professionals from the academia, business, cultural world and public administration, is responsible for the evaluation of applications and the selection of the five finalists and winning practices.

The awards ceremony will be held during ORU Fogar’s next General Assembly, which will take place in the Basque Country, in October 2017. The winners will have their practice published on the Bank of Good Practices of ORU Fogar, who along with the UNDP will disseminate the publication for international recognition and to enable its replication.

Registration is now open and the deadline for submitting applications is the 30th April. At ORU, we encourage all intermediate governments to participate and share their best practices with our network of regions, with the common objective of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of public administrations to benefit the common good.
