New TAIEX program on equality policies in Córdoba in the Basque Country

A delegation from the province of Córdoba, Argentina, participated in a study mission to the Basque Country to learn firsthand about the policies developed in the areas of equality and the fight against gender-based violence against women. The visit took place within the framework of the European TAIEX program, a public sector knowledge exchange initiative organized and funded by the European Union and promoted by ORU Fogar, with the aim of transferring specialized experience between administrations and strengthening public management models.

The director of Emakunde, the Basque Women's Institute, Miren Elgarresta, along with the director of External Action, Asier Areitio, welcomed the delegation from Córdoba to Lehendakaritza, the seat of the Basque presidency. For four days, the representatives from the Women's Secretariat met with technical teams and program managers from the Basque Government to learn about Emakunde's responsibilities and its institutional coordination in ensuring gender equality in all areas.

The mission included meetings with staff involved in the Basque Government's equality policies, visits to key facilities, and an analysis of the operation of various services. These included the Ertzaintza police station in Vitoria-Gasteiz, where the police protection system for victims of gender-based violence was presented, and the SATEVI center in Bilbao, a specialized information and support service for women victims of violence.

The itinerary also provided an opportunity to learn about initiatives such as Gizonduz, a program that promotes men's involvement in gender equality, and to participate in a meeting with Berdinsarea, the Basque Network of Municipalities for Equality and against Gender Violence. This study mission strengthened institutional exchange and opened new opportunities for cooperation between the Basque Country and the province of Córdoba in the areas of equality and the prevention of violence against women.
